Who could have imagined the demand for telecommunications frequencies would eventually lead to a virtual logjam in the airwaves?  Certainly not the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the government regulator that distributed 800 MHz frequencies – including those used in public safety.  Today, most public safety organizations operating in the 800 MHz bandwidth are experiencing serious interference issues.

If you have licensed repeaters transmitting on the 851 to 854 MHz or 866 to 869 MHz NASPAC channels, you must participate in the FCC’s mandated transition program.  Other users operating in the 860 to 861 band region must also participate in rebanding or file a petition to opt out.  The FCC’s intent is to better serve every critical user on the system and protect long-term integrity of your system.

Don’t go it alone.  The EMA team is available to make sure you meet the FCC requirements.  Rebanding requires negotiation, updated system architecture design, engineering, inventory management, legal services, financial review and approval, filed installation services, and contractor compliance.  The rebanding process is a complex maze of technology and bureaucracy – testing the patience of the most skilled system administrator.  The EMA team will act as your overall system advocate to guide you through this complex process.
